About Me

Born in Norwich, England on October 21st 1982. An animator in both 2D and 3D disciplines.

Primarily an effects animator who also does technical work such as rigging, shader and texturing using mainly Newtek LightWave and Maya for 3D work and an animation desk, camera, scanner and Toon Boom Studio / USAnimator for 2D.

Still finding and refining his style, always learning, always adapting, trying to find himself in his animation and artwork. Stephen has been drawing since he can remember. It has always been one of his strengths and now very much his life. He has been animating for over nine years.

Studied BA (Hons) Creative Visualisation at the University of Teesside where he graduated in 2005 and has been working freelance since. Over the coming year is hoping to move down to London full time. Click for his Resumé.

He has a Blog where you preview many of his current projects. Its a good place to find out what he's been getting up to.

Hobbies, most of which are art related such as animatronics, design and Imagineering, a marriage of imagination and engineering occupy his spare time, along with being an avid photographer which is heavily used during research.

He spends a lot of time listening and watching Japanese anime, music and films and has spent the past few years learning Japanese and is hoping to visit in the near future.

Home Studio

The home studio is small but well setup which has just been just recently refurbished. It houses his main 3D Workstation and a small renderfarm for LightWave and Maya and a Video Editing Workstation running Avid Liquid.

Main Workstation is a AMD Dual 2.66Ghz Athlon system with 2Gb ram connected to a 2Tb storage raid unit for frame storage. I primarily use Hewlett Packard (HP) and iiyama LCD monitors and Alesis M1 520 Reference Monitors for audio playback.

The Renderfarm is built on Hewlett Packard (HP) Ultra Compacts to reduce space and power consumption. All spec'd at Intel P4 2.66Ghz with 1Gb ram connected to a Hewlett Packard (HP) PIII server for data centralisation for the farm.

When animataing he uses a mixture of Wacom Graphics Tablets and Chroma Colour 12 Field animation desk.

.. oh and not forgetting a huge whiteboard... The best toy an artist can have! Its where he solves problems and generally doodles in his spare time.
